Jökull (Glacier)
I missed the sight of the mountains and the smell of the sea. I missed the Glaciers. I realised that up to that time, in all the places where I had lived, I had been able to see a glacier.
It was the Glaciers that I was missing. So, I decided to make my own Glacier. A Glacier is gigantic. When you stand near one, you feel its might, a power that is almost supernatural, unconquerable.
My Glacier is knitted, using Icelandic wool. It is so big that you can’t see over it. It has a powerful presence. It is my declaration of love to Iceland, my love poem. My Glacier consists of a wooden frame with a knitted surface.
It is 10 m long, 8 m wide and 4 m high.
